 Sufen Chiu, M.D., Ph.D. child and adolescent psychiatrist, recently joined Sutter Center for Psychiatry located at 7700 Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento.
Dr. Chiu is board certified in pediatrics in addition to general and child adolescent psychiatry. She received her medical and doctorate degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her pediatric, general and child & adolescent psychiatry residencies at Brown University in Rode Island. Dr. Chiu extended her training by completing a research fellowship at the Harvard affiliate, McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts.
She is a member of American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, California Medical Association, and Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society.
Dr. Chiu's clinical and research interests include developmental disorders such as autism and Asperger's disorder, bipolar disorders and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia.
Prior to coming to Sutter, Dr. Chiu was an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UC Davis Medical Center and a researcher with the UC Davis MIND Institute.
Sutter Center for Psychiatry provides extensive psychiatric and mental health services for children, adolescents and adults. It is the only comprehensive mental health system in the Sacramento region that operated as part of a not-for-profit, integrative health care system. Sutter Center for Psychiatry is one of three campuses of Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, which is the foundation of Sutter Health, Northern California's largest health care network.
