Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento has the region’s largest high-risk maternity program and most comprehensive Level IIIC Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. And while we care for the most critical patients, we are still able to maintain outcomes and quality indicators that surpass local and National averages. And that means better care for our moms and their infants.
ELECTIVE DELIVERY
Deliveries for non-medical (elective) reasons by induction of labor or C/S prior to 39 weeks gestation.

C-SECTIONS
First time mothers who deliver one baby who is in a head down position (not breech) by cesarean section after 37 weeks gestation.

EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
Healthy term newborns that were fed only breastmilk during the entire hospital stay, which means they were never given sugar water or formula for any reason. Babies that were born early or had to spend time in NICU are not included in this category.
