    Treatment of injury and disease relies on proper diagnosis of the underlying condition. Sutter Medical Center and its affiliated services provide state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services within Sutter Medical Center's Diagnostic Imaging Department. The Medical Center provides inpatient and outpatient x-rays, angiography, therapeutic and diagnostic nuclear medicine, non-invasive vascular testing, ultrasonography, and computed tomography (CT). An additional CT scanner at the Medical Center serves our bariatric population of patient's weighing up to 600 pounds. In addition, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is available through an affiliated service provider. Beginning in September of 2006, MRI scanning will be offered on our Sutter General campus.

    The Medical Center houses specialized diagnostic equipment for cancer, cardiovascular and neurological conditions, and orthopedics for patients of all ages. Advanced equipment available within the Medical Center includes the NeuroStar Plus 3D system, a digital imaging system that provides images of the brain, arteries and spine n three dimensions. All diagnostic images are stored in a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) to provide physicians with a method to quickly review their patient’s images.
