Both Sutter General and Sutter Memorial Hospitals offer basic and advanced emergency services within dedicated emergency departments staffed by board-certified emergency department physicians.

Sutter Memorial provides a 9-bed emergency department for general conditions and dedicated neonatal and pediatric intensive care units for patients transported from throughout Northern California.

Sutter General Hospital dedicated a new emergency department in March 2001, featuring 28 beds, with 17 fully equipped for extremely critically ill patients. The beds feature state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and convenient access to imaging and other ancillary services. During peak hours, the emergency department offers an area dedicated to shorter waiting times for patients with less critical medical needs.
